Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake..
For all you Chocolate Orange lovers this cake was made just for you!
When trialling this cake I was thinking would the orange extract taste a little odd in a chocolate cake? But I had nothing to lose and it turned out lovely! It's very different but it's a pleasure to make and serve.
Recipe:
8oz/225 Caster Sugar
8oz/225g Cooking Marg
4 Eggs
7oz Self-Raising Flour
3oz Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 Tspn Baking Powder
3 Drops of Orange Extract
Decoration:
5oz Butter/Marg
7oz Icing Sugar
3oz Cocoa Powder
2 Drops of Orange Extract
Method:
Grease a 8inch bundt tin with butter/margarine
Cream cooking margarine
and caster sugar together in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy
Add 4 rook temperature eggs,1 at a time, whisking between each one
Add self-raising flour, cocoa and baking powder then whisk again until combined.
DO NOT OVERWHISK
Add orange extract and whisk gently again
You don’t want to whisk too much as all the air created previously will be lost
Place in bundt cake mold and bake for 25-30mins at 170c/150c fan, or until baking skewer comes out clean
I used Mini Terry’s Chocolate Orange segments and orange jellies.
Place butter and icing sugar in a bowl/jug and whisk until it forms a smooth buttercream
Add extract and whisk again
Adding a zest of an orange on top of the icing is a nice touch.

Happy Baking!
