Oreo Truffles..
Who doesn't love truffles? I love truffles, however I don't buy them very often as they can sometimes be costly and you don't see them everywhere but this super simple, low cost recipe will be a game-changer. These truffles cost me less than £1 to make and they look great and taste even better, everyone can get involved in making these.
I'll definitely be making some more of these as Oreos aren't the only flavour truffles that are applicable with this recipe, why not try Kinder Truffles, Biscoff Truffles or even just a plain and simple chocolate truffle..
Recipe:
For the Truffles:
18 Oreos
120g Full Fat Soft Cheese
For the Chocolate Coating:
200g of White/Milk Chocolate
or 100g of both
1 Oreo to sprinkle
Method:
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
Crush 18 oreos in a freezer bag with a rolling pin until fine crumbs or in a food processor
Pour crushed oreos into a mixing bowl and add soft cheese
Mix until all is combined and the ingredients have formed an oreo paste
Spoon a teaspoon of the mixture into the palms of your hands and roll into a ball shapeo, I made 16 of them
Place the truffles on the lined baking tray and put in the freezer for 30-45minutes to harden
Once they have had their time in the freezer, melt your chocolate in a heatproof jug in the microwave for 1min 20seconds until completely melted, checking on it every 10seconds to avoid burning,
alternatively melt in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water
There are two ways of coating the truffles, you can place a skewer in the truffles then dunk them in the chocolate or grab a fork and roll them in the chocolate
Either way, this must be done as quickly as possible because the truffles will start to heat up and they will start to crumb into the chocolate
Once coated place back on lined baking tray, whilst the chocolate is still wet, crush the 1 oreo and sprinkle on the tops of the truffles
Place in the fridge for 1hour to harden.
Happy Baking!!
